MD Helicopters delivers MD Explorer to Chinese customer

MD Helicopters, Inc (MDHI) has announced the delivery of a new MD 902 to the Huaxi Village Group. The early delivery took place at a ceremony at MD’s Mesa completion facility on August 10, 2010.

Huaxi Village, also known as “The No.1 Village of China,” located east of Jiangyin city in Jiangsu Province has a population of thirty thousand and a physical size of approximately 30 square kilometers. Over the past 40 years, the village and region have become industrial and commercial powerhouses offering a wide range of opportunities to residents. Huaxi is considered the richest village in China, and claims nearly 2 million tourists a year.

Robert Molsbergen, President of MD Helicopters, Inc., Christophe Nurit, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and Hans Hilkhuysen, Director of International Sales were on hand to present the keys of the new MD Explorer to Wu, Xie Dong, Chairman of the Huaxi Real Estate Development Company.

Molsbergen in his presentation clarified that all models of MD Helicopters have received the necessary Type Certifications from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

Wu thanked MD Helicopters for its warm welcome and great work. He told the audience that it has been a personal dream of his to “own a helicopter for our village.”

Members of the Chinese acceptance team included Yuan, Xiao Feng, a member of the CAAC inspection group; Huang, Yanfei, the head of the Airworthiness Division in the CAAC Eastern Region; Hu, Bo, DGM of the Shanghai Skyway General Aviation Company; Qu, Quanxing, Vice Secretary of the Huaxi Group and Liu, Jingiang, Mechanic of Shanghai Skyway.

Also accompanying the delegation were dignitaries from the Village of Huaxi including; Li, Qing Vice President of Huaxi Group; Zhang, Guangwei, Director of the Jiangyin Transportation Bureau and Qiu, Juping, Office Manager of Huaxi Construction.

The group was escorted by Sonia Wu of Avion Pacific Limited (AVION), MD’s Distributor for People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong and Macau.

The new MD Explorer will be used for general corporate purposes and sight seeing. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada 207E engines with 720 shaft horsepower per engine, the MD Explorer has the highest payload in the light-twin class. With a maximum gross weight of 6,500 pounds (2948 kg), it boasts exceptional power for take-off and landing on elevated platforms. r our village.”
