MD Helicopters majority owner Lynn Tilton is to get her own television show, courtesy of the Sundance Channel.  Under the working title of “Diva of Distressed“, the show will promote her on a mission to save troubled businesses across America.  It’s not clear from the initial information whether it will feature her current investments such as MD Helicopters, or potential new investments.

Promoted as brash, bold and “a billionaire in stilettos”, the program will show how Lynn steps in with fresh ideas, deep pockets, and high expectations.  Sundance say that her no-nonsense business philosophy and unorthodox style helps get these enterprises back on track and return stability, pride, and hope to the small town communities they support.  We wonder whether the program will concentrate on the “people aspect” or whether it will promote the usual modus operandi of the private equity operators – buy cheap, add value by reducing costs and/or beefing up turnover, sell more valuable company at a profit.

Sundance Channel (sundancechannel.com) says it aims to showcase both today’s creative icons and the emerging talent of tomorrow by telling credible, authentic, and emotionally immersive stories of Invention, Fashion, Film, Travel, Design, and Enterprise. Launched in 1996 and owned and operated by Rainbow Media Holdings, LLC, Sundance Channel provides perspectives dedicated to founder Robert Redford’s mission to celebrate creativity.  In turn, Rainbow Media Holdings LLC is a subsidiary of Cablevision Systems Corp.  Additional information about Rainbow Media’s multiplatform brands is available at www.rainbow-media.com.
