Bell Helicopter today recognized Scott’s Helicopter Services in a formal ceremony to initiate the transfer of ownership of the Model 47 type certificates.
“We are continuously looking for ways to improve support, increase capabilities and lower operating cost of our legacy aircraft,” said Danny Maldonado, senior vice president Customer Support and chief services officer at Bell. “We recognize that the 47 has a unique market segment and believe the best way to support that market is to transfer the ownership to Scott’s.”
Earlier this year, all aspects of commercial spares support and technical support for the FAA type certificated Bell 47 became the responsibility of Scott’s Helicopter Services, a Bell-approved Customer Service Facility (CSF) located in Le Sueur, Minn. and led by President Scott Churchill.
The Model 47 is known for starting the commercial helicopter market and has a rich history. Today there are more than 900 Model 47s in use around the world and with the completion of the sale are now known as Scott’s Bell 47s.
“We are confident that Scott’s Helicopter Services will continue to provide our customers with the outstanding service and support they have come to depend on,” said Bell CEO John L. Garrison. “Bell will continue to support Scott and Scott’s Helicopter Services as he brings renewed passion to this market.”
Bell has an extensive installed base of legacy aircraft, and providing increased attention and overall support and improving mission capabilities of that installed base is a major initiative going forward. The sale of the Model 47 type certificates are one part of that initiative.
