Brazilian state of Tocantins adds first police helicopter

In the last week, the Public Security department of Tocantins has taken delivery of its first helicopter, a Eurocopter AS350B3 from the local Helibras factory. This will be operated in partnership with the National Secretariat of Public Security (SENASP) and will be available to the Civil Police, Military Police and Fire Department. Secretary of Public Safety, Juscelino Cardoso da Mota, said that its sold purpose is “to ensure the security and tranquility of the population”.

Two pilots – Charles Giovane de Oliveira and Ferreira da Nobrega Leonardo Garrido – have been tained to fly the aircraft. SENASP provides mechanical and operational support, including crew training.

Tocantins is the tenth largest state in Brazil by land area, covering approx 107 million square miles. It has a population of 1.3 million and the helicopter will be based at the capital, Palmas

The helicopter is registered PR-SST
