UK opposition leader Ed Miliband visited AgustaWestland’s Yeovil factory last Friday and reportedly used the visit to try rubbishing the country’s third party – the Liberal Democrats – who have historically had significantly strong support in the area. He used the visit to mount a campaign to “win back the trust” of voters in the region ahead of May’s local elections.
Mr Miliband is battling an image issue after the grass roots of the party chose his brother David to lead the Labour Party, only for the vote to be pulled back just the other side of the 50% point in Ed’s favour by the huge voting ability of the trade unions. Brother David was the hoped-for choice by ex Prime Minister Gordon Brown, but it was not to be. Ed Miliband then had his most important minister resign citing marriage issues, with the press reporting that his wife was paying more-than-usual attention to his assigned police security officer. Then, to cap it all, the replacement chosen is the finely named Mr Balls. You wouldn’t believe it if it was written as a television series!
