Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) is proud to announce that the company’s innovative online campaign resource, PT6Nation, has been awarded a Flight Global ‘Webbie’ award. PT6Nation, a comprehensive, customer-focused online community, which brings together thousands of P&WC’s PT6 engine operators, won first place in the category for “Best Use of Social Media.” P&WC is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX) company.
“We are thrilled to be honoured by Flight Global, a leading authority in aviation news, for our work on PT6Nation,” said Nancy German, Vice President, Communications, Pratt & Whitney Canada. “PT6Nation is an online platform that that brings together the PT6 engine community to tell the story of how this extraordinary product is used every day around the world.”
Since launching on December 1, 2010 PT6Nation has:
“There are thousands of individuals that depend on the PT6 engine. We saw an exciting opportunity to bring these engine operators together in a dynamic online community where they could discuss the engine and talk with each other about professional needs and issues,” said Marketing Communications Manager Matthew M. Perra. “PT6Nation has become a forum for enthusiasts and customers to connect with one another and we are excited for what the future holds for the project,” he continued.
According to Flight Global‘s competition judges, “P&WC successfully started the first OEM-run social network, stepping outside the bounds of the established networks such as Facebook and Twitter, but harnessing their integration. P&WC has formed a niche community around its “PT6 nation” of 6000+ operators, by stepping past the traditionally conservative and risk-averse corporate culture that can slow the adoption of social media strategies. P&WC has successfully developed a B2C tool to connect with its customer base in an open digital medium.”
“The PT6 engine’s reputation for excellence and efficiency has been fostered for more than 4 decades, and P&WC has worked vigorously to continue development of the cutting-edge engine technology,” German concluded.
