The in Weston-super-Mare has announced the theme of this years ‘Museums At Night’ event at the famous aviation attraction and the theme this year is ‘The Vietnam Conflict’.
During the weekend of May 14th and 15th, visitors to the museum will be able to meet G. I’s in authentic period uniform care of several local re-enactment societies who will be supporting the event. The museums very own UH-1H “Huey†helicopter will also be opened up to the public for two days only for visitors to climb inside the cockpit of a military aircraft that actually experienced combat in the Vietnam War, and if that was not enough there will be over 40 flight simulators of various shapes and sizes in the hangars for visitors to ‘fly’ and learn the controls of the aircraft without even leaving the ground.
Exhibitors this year include The Virtual RAF and The Virtual Red Arrows, with whom the public will be allowed to virtually fly with the Diamond Nine. For those visitors who wish to experience the real thing, helicopter flights around the local coastline will be available throughout the weekend, departing from the museum’s very own helipad.
Then on the evening of Saturday 14th May, SkyHigh Radio will take over the venue for a special one-night-only “Museums At Night†Vietnam disco.
Guests will be invited to dress in the styles of the period as they dance the night away to the rocking tunes of the 60’s and 70’s. A licensed bar will be serving refreshments and there will be a prize for the best dressed dancer during the evening ( Viet-Cong, Conscientious Objectors, G.
