The Helicopter Association of Canada (HAC), led by Association President Fred Jones and Board of Directors Chair Teri Northcott, recently held its annual conference in Ottawa, Ontario (March 16-18).The program included educational opportunities, Committee meetings and other opportunities for members.

Two keynote speakers addressed attendees at the annual luncheon. Pierre, Poilievre, a member of parliament and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transportation, gave an overview of the economic impact of the helicopter industry. Fred Brisbois of Sikorsky Aircraft spoke about the challenges to helicopter safety in the future. Brisbois also co-chairs the U.S. Safety Implementation Team, part of the International Helicopter Safety Team (IHST).

HAI Director of Safety Stan Rose gave a presentation on HAI’s new Accreditation Program during the Safety Forum. The program generated a great deal of interest at HAI’s exhibit booth, where Rose distributed additional information.

HAC plays an important role in enhancing helicopter safety through their “best practice” recommendations and other contributions to safety programs.
