FAA Requests Comments from Commercial Air Tour Operators

24-Jul-2012 Source: FAA

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is requesting comment on their intention to request approval from the Office of Management and Budget to renew for three years an information collection that had previously been granted emergency clearance.

The FAA Reauthorization passed in Feb., 2012, requires air tour operators to report the number of operations conducted over national parks to the FAA and National Park Service (NPS). The FAA and NPS were granted 90 days from the date of enactment of the bill (the bill was enacted Feb. 14, 2012) to issue an initial request for reports and to specify a format and frequency of reports.

The data would be used as information in the development of air tour management plans and voluntary agreements. The information is to be collected quarterly for parks with 50 or more tours per calendar year, or annually for those with fewer than 50 tours.

Comments need to be received by August 20, 2012. The full notice can be viewed here.
