The FAA is getting out of the direct-to-public retail sales of aeronautical charts and related paper products. The agency will still print charts and distribute them through its network of authorized chart sales agents.

Effective July 1, the FAA is no longer accepting or renewing chart subscriptions. Current subscriptions will continue to be filled until their applicable expiration dates. Individual charts are still available through the agency’s aeronav.faa.gov website through the end of September.

Beginning on October 1, the first day of the new federal fiscal year, the FAA will stop selling individual copies of paper aeronautical charts and related paper products. It will, however, continue to print those products and make them available through its worldwide network of authorized chart sales agents. A list of those agents is available on the FAA’s aeronav website.

“The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is taking this action to reduce costs, improve efficiencies, and enhance and modernize the service provided our customers and the aviation community,” the agency wrote in its announcement.
