The 10th annual CHC Safety and Quality Summit was held in Vancouver, BC, Canada, from March 31-April 2. HAI’s Director of Safety J. Heffernan and Director of Safety Outreach Stan Rose represented HAI, among 750 other safety professionals from around the globe. This year, the theme of the summit was Safety & Quality in the real world: Turning Theory into Best Practice.

In addition to numerous safety sessions across the three-day event, there were introductory comments by William J. “Bill” Amelio, president and CEO of CHC Helicopter, as well as keynote addresses by Dr. Tony Kern, CEO of Convergent Performance, and Sidney Dekker, internationally renowned expert on human factors and safety. At the summit gala dinner, guests were treated to a captivating story of safety and how to deal with emergencies in spaceflight, by Chris Hadfield, Canadian Astronaut and commander of the International Space Station for 144 days.

HAI commends Duncan Trapp, vice president of safety and quality for CHC, for an outstanding job as the master of ceremonies, and the CHC staff and volunteers who made this event such a success.
