House GA Caucus Weighs In on FAA Medical Certificates

1-Sep-2014 Source: HAI

Thirty-two members of the House General Aviation Caucus have written Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx to ask that his department expedite its review of a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) related to medical certificates.

The NPRM is still under review, but the GA caucus letter joins the general aviation industry in calling for an expansion in the number of private pilots who don’t need a third-class medical certificate to fly, calling the rule “vitally important to the future of the general aviation industry.”

Ten members of the House Transportation Committee signed the letter, including Reps. Thomas Petri (R-Wisc.) and Sam Graves (R-Mo.), asking that DOT finish reviewing the NPRM within 30 days, so that it can be opened for public comment.
