Kathy Mayer, Program Director for Flight For Life Colorado, has announced the delivery of Airbus AS350 B3e Emergency Medical Helicopter to Flight For Life Colorado, located at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood. The state-of-the-art helicopter was built by United Rotorcraft in Englewood, CO and is slated to begin service on Sept. 30, 2014.
“The highly-anticipated delivery of the B3e will bring a higher level of care to Flight For Life Colorado,” Mayer said. “The superior speed, advanced systems and enhanced safety features of the new helicopter will provide us greater capabilities at altitude and reduce response times for our patients being transported from the mountains. We thank the St. Anthony Health Foundation, the Summit Medical Center Health Foundation and their generous donors for their dedication and support. Without them, we would not have this amazing craft.”
St. Anthony Health Foundation and Summit Medical Center Foundation led the campaign to raise the money to purchase the B3e helicopter. The foundations recruited influential donors from around the state, and raised $1 million in just one year to purchase the Airbus B3e.
The medical interior of the new craft includes United Rotorcraft’s Articulating Litter Loading System (ALLS) to easily load and secure critically injured patients and neonatal isolettes for transport. On board medical systems include liquid oxygen (LOX), compressed air, suction, mounts to accommodate carry-on medical equipment as well as an abundance of AC power. The interior lighting is fully night vision system compatible.
“The United Rotorcraft team is proud to deliver the AS350 B3e, the first in this region, to Flight For Life Colorado,” said Frank Graham, Senior Director of Business Development for United Rotorcraft. “We are honored by the continued confidence placed in us by Flight For Life Colorado and treasure our partnership with this lifesaving organization.
