The Mi-171A2, was developed on the basis of the Mi-8/17 series, and combines this series’ distinguished operational history with the latest technology and design solutions. Thanks to a series of innovative solutions applied, the helicopter boasts significantly improved flight capabilities, greater economic efficiency and expanded operational range. The Mi-171A2 can be operated in high, mountainous areas, in extremely hot, dry climates, under abrupt changes in temperature, and in very dusty environments. It does not need a hangar for storage or key maintenance purposes. All these qualities make the Mi-171A2 the ideal choice for countries across the Middle East.
Mi-8/17 series helicopters boast an impressive track record in search and rescue operations across the world. The Mi-171A2, as the latest addition to this series, is also the most effective. Currently, Russian Helicopters working towards its certification and preparing to launch series production on the Mi-171A2.
During Dubai Helishow in 2012, experts paid particular attention to the Ka-32A11BC firefighting helicopter, which they said would even be able to tackle fires that break out on the top floors of sky scrapers such as the famous Burj Khalifa in Dubai. This 163-storey building (828 metres) is one of the tallest in the world. Conventional, ground-based fire-fighting crews would be virtually useless were a fire to break out in a building of that height.
The Ka-32A11BC is the heaviest-lifting model in its class. It can be equipped with horizontal and vertical firefighting systems. Collecting and delivering three tons of water, in hover mode, takes just a minute and a half. The Ka-32A11BC can add foaming agents to the water it collects, delivering over 200 kg of foam. These features enable it to fight fire on any floor – targeting its stream through a window deep into the burning building.
Ka-32A11BC helicopters are operated in over 30 countries worldwide. Experts have recognised it as one of the finest firefighting helicopters in the world – irreplaceable in combatting industrial and natural blazes. The European Aviation Safety Agency certified the Ka-32A11BC in 2009, and Australia’s aviation regulator – in February 2013. The helicopter also meets FAR29 and AP-29 standards.
