le Jima Auxiliary Airfield tendered land in 2013 for four quadrilateral helipads, as well as two unpaved helipads. Construction on the project began in August this year. As reported by Ryukyu Shimpo, the construction plans were laid out in the 2015 U.S Marine Corps Aviation Plan. The U.S Military hopes to have the project completed by August of 2017.
