The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office is currently in the process of bidding for a new police helicopter. They have two helicopters, but the current one in use is costing a large amount of money simply due to maintenance costs. Funding for a new helicopter has been approved by the Manatee County Commissioners, reports My Sun Coast. $1.1 million of the $4.9 million cost is going to be paid with sales tax revenue.
