The Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO) has developed the Helicopter Visual Landing Aid System (HVLAS) for landing on ship decks at sea. The system provides safety indications for pilots, letting them know whether landing is feasible. It features a stabilised reference system and glide slope indicator, LED deck lights, LSO panel, a centralisd control unit as well a landing period designator, reports Times of India.
