FreeFlight Systems, a leader in NextGen aerospace applications, today announced a certified, permanently installed ADS-B In Receiver which operates on both the 978 MHz and 1090 MHz bands.

FreeFlight’s latest Datalink system will receive air traffic information directly from other aircraft, allowing for significantly improved situational awareness by reducing reliance on ground and radar stations.

Available in both a receiver and transceiver option, the Datalink Receiver will receive five certifications for ADS-B; transmission on the 978 UAT frequency, receiving flight information broadcast services (FIS-B), receiving and processing aircraft surveillance application systems, receiving traffic information systems broadcasting (TIS-B) and global positioning systems. The unit interfaces with Traffic Alert System (TAS) and Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), and supports Ethernet, RS-232, and ARINC 429 data interfaces.

“We are tremendously excited to announce our latest NextGen System” said Tim Taylor, FreeFlight Systems President and CEO. “Our reliable avionics our known for their high reliability and solid build quality. Now that ADS-B Out is fully deployed, operators can start to take advantage of many NextGen applications. ADS-B In is the first of those to be fully available today. We are proud to contribute to the industry with a unique product that ultimately increases airborne safety.”

The ADS-B In unit also features seamless Wi-Fi integration with popular PED applications such as ForeFlight, WingX, and JepView, allowing pilots to assess their airspace with certified data.

The robust and reliable solution is designed to interface with a broad range of aircraft avionics and tablet applications, and also provides a flexible option for upgrading technologies and displays. FreeFlight Systems’ latest ADS-B device is a powerful addition to its extensive list of avionic systems and technologies and will be available in November 2020 with an AML STC for Part 23 aircraft and additional STC options for the Part 25 market in Q1 2021.
