[electronic translation] The corresponding contracts were signed by the Russian Helicopters Holding (part of the Rostec State Corporation) in November – December 2020 with the Brazilian Industria de Aviacao e Servisos (IAS), an authorized company of the Brazilian Air Force. According to the contracts, the Russian Helicopters holding will ensure the supply of group repair kits for those units that will be repaired in Brazil, supply a number of new components, and also repair some units in the Russian Federation. In addition, the specialists of the Mil and Kamov NTSV developer will carry out an individual extension of the MTO for the Mi-35M helicopters.

The repair of the helicopters will be carried out on the basis of the service center of the IAS company, created as part of the offset obligations of the Russian side under the contract for the supply of 12 Mi-35M helicopters to Brazil.

“We attach particular importance to this project and are fully prepared for its implementation. I am confident that our Brazilian partners will be able to quickly resolve a number of technical issues to start work. In particular, we expect from IAS to sign five additional agreements, as well as send to us those agreed with The Brazilian Air Force lists lists of units for replacement or repair in Russia. Without these documents, we cannot start producing and completing the property and units required for overhaul, “said Russian Helicopters CEO Andrei Boginsky.

In 2018, the commander of the 8th squadron of the Second Air Force of the Brazilian Air Force, Aviation Major Romulo Amaral, in an interview with the Russian Helicopters magazine, noted the high reliability of the Russian Mi-35M helicopters and their readiness to perform tasks even in difficult climatic conditions.

“The adaptation of Russian helicopters to the conditions of the Amazon was carried out successfully, and despite the climatic differences between Brazil and the country of development, the adaptation was minimal. The helicopter proved to be truly reliable and trustworthy – these are the most important characteristics of an aircraft designed for warfare. Amazon region allows the rotorcraft to maximize its versatility, due to the fact that it does not require a prepared runway – it can land on any hard surface, in remote areas, with a minimum of ground infrastructure and regardless of weather conditions, providing constant combat cover, “said Romulo Amaral.

According to him, while participating in major events, the helicopter practiced actions to provide cover for important objects. The capabilities of the helicopter were confirmed during the Rio + 20 conference, the Confederations Cup (2013), the FIFA World Cup (2014), the Olympic Games (2016) and Operation Ostium (Operação Ostium; 2017).

The Mi-35M is the only universal combat helicopter in the world capable of carrying up to 8 military personnel with weapons, up to 1,500 kg of ammunition or other cargo inside the cockpit, as well as up to 2,400 kg of cargo on external sling, evacuating the wounded, personnel to autonomous base sites. The round-the-clock and all-weather combat use of the helicopter provides the ability to perform combat missions for air support for ground forces at any time of the day and in any weather conditions.

The helicopter is distinguished by significant altitude characteristics with the ability to perform takeoffs and landings on concrete and unpaved sites located at altitudes up to 4000 m above sea level. In addition, the successful design solutions used in the Mi-35 make it possible to use the Russian helicopter in a wide range of physical, geographical and climatic conditions, including in the mountains, at temperatures from -50 ° C to + 50 ° C.
