When Lakeland Aircraft Maintenance founder Shaun Slade had a customer request to demilitarize, inspect and do utility conversations for a couple of original UH-60 Blackhawks, an audio system solution was needed. That’s when Shaun contacted PS Engineering, Inc about the all-digital PAC45 audio management system.

Installations have just begun. The hardware includes a remote blind mount HUB45R, mounted in the equipment bay area, and then a CTL45P control head will be mounted near each pilot. Since this is a full digital system, no paralleling of wires is required, which greatly decreases installation time and cost.

Although only two control heads are being used, the PAC45 system will still support four transmit locations, nine stereo intercom stations with IntelliVox® and control head selectable intercom push-to-talk (ICS PTT), along with pilot and crew intercom isolation modes.

One of the main customers selling points was that PS Engineering uses MultiTalker® True Dimensional Audio Sound for the radio traffic. This allows easy monitoring of communications without the fear of missing important communications when multiple radios are active. Having the directional placement of the radio traffic greatly improves the crew’s attention to radio calls.
