The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC) have signed a Letter of Intent to collaborate on an approach to eVTOL certification.

The Letter of Intent highlights both authorities’ intentions to work together to enhance cooperation and increase efficiency in matters relating to the certification of eVTOL.

The letter was signed on 13 June at the European Union Aviation Safety Agency and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) International Safety Conference in Cologne, Germany.

Sophie O’Sullivan, Head of Future Safety and Innovation at the Civil Aviation Authority, said:

“eVTOL is a vital frontier in the future of aviation, and we look forward to sharing regulatory approaches with our peers at ANAC in order to ensure we can stay at the forefront of this important sector.”

Roberto Honorato, Airworthiness Department head of ANAC Brazil, said:

“With the increasing number of eVTOL activities an important part of the development of this new sector is the cooperation between state of design. I’d like to thank the representatives of the UK Civil Aviation Authority and Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil that worked to make it possible.”
