On Tuesday, July 11, an EMS award was presented to Ed Tausk for developing and procuring a landing zone (LZ) for emergency services to use when an air medical helicopter is requested for the transport of ill or injured patients in the Vermilion Dam Lodge area on Lake Vermilion. Tausk is the owner of the Vermilion Dam Lodge, has been first responder trained for several years, and has taken the initiative to set up the LZ on his own because he recognized the need over the past few years.
