The popular London Heli Shuttle, which links London Biggin Hill Airport and the centrally located London Heliport in just six minutes is expanding. Offering the “fastest touchdown to downtown’” service from the time it opened in late 2014, the London Heli Shuttle has been operated by Castle Air on their AOC (Air Operators Certificate). Initially using Leonardo AW109 helicopters, a larger Leonardo AW139 is now features regularly, with AW109s available when needed.

In the last few weeks, Castle Air has imported another AW139 and they are currently going through the administrative hoops to add it to their AOC.  This fleet expansion will provide greater reassurance and certainty to potential customers that all booking requests will be met. With a dedicated based fleet of cabin-class helicopters, potential customers have maximum flexibility in that they may request very short notice transfer flights, knowing they will be in the heart of London in a matter of a few minutes.

Demand continues to rise as the number of corporate jets visiting London Biggin Hill Airport rises. The 1806m runway is open 0630 – 2300hrs local time on weekdays and 0800 – 2200hrs on weekends. The airport has seen a huge new Bombardier maintenance centre with 22 service bays open in late 2022, supporting the full range of Global, Challenger and Learjet aircraft, and this brings even more jet operators in.

With over 40 years of helicopter service experience, Castle Air provides a high level of quality and service. One of the largest Leonardo specialists in the world, Castle Air has extensive experience of operating, managing, maintaining and trading these aircraft. Aside from Biggin Hill, the company has facilities in Cornwall, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and in Scotland, and while their operations focus on passenger charter, they also include air ambulance and contract military flying.

The London Heli Shuttle not only serves The London Heliport at Battersea, but also the Skyports London Heliport near Canary Wharf.

London Biggin Hill Airport is just 12 miles from central London and offers award winning VIP handling, a choice of three FBO’s, extensive hangarage, support and maintenance services for all ranges of business jets.

A designated UK Port of Entry, no runway slots and the exclusive 6 minute London Heli Shuttle transfer service to and from the heart of the capital city makes London Biggin Hill the primary choice for visiting jet operators – particularly from East Coast USA and the Middle East.
