Sheriff Mark J Dannels (seen below) has recently been very pleased to introduce a new helicopter to the citizens of Cochise County in Arizona.  The Airbus H125 will be known by the name “Hawkeye.”

The helicopter is the result of a grant from a state grant, and Sheriff Dannels made a point in a social media post to particularly thank the State of Arizona Congressional Members and the Governor’s Office for their continued support.  He has secured funding for the helicopter and the extra staff needed for five years. That said, it soon became apparent that Sheriff Dannels has already asked the state for an extension because of the activity at the border.

Cochise County is in the southeastern corner of the US state of Arizona, bordering Mexico to the south and the US state of New Mexico to the east. It is named after Cochise, a Chiricahua Apache who was a key war leader during the Apache Wars.

The helicopter featured in a HeliHub.com news item when it was first delivered in 2014.  David MacNeil, owner of MacNeil Automotive Products Ltd. in Bolingbrook, Ill. took delivery of the aircraft for use in business travels for his company that manufactures the acclaimed WeatherTech automotive products.
