Robinson Helicopter Company, a pioneer in civil rotorcraft, welcomes Sean Doyle to the role of VP of Engineering, succeeding Pete Riedl who held the role for nearly two decades.  This is part of a planned succession as the company builds on 50 years of success and solidifies its position as the preferred supplier in vertical aviation.

After almost 38 years with Robinson Helicopter Company, Pete Riedl has announced he is stepping down from his role as vice president of engineering. He worked closely with Frank and Kurt Robinson during his tenure, contributing significantly to various projects. Notable achievements include his collaboration with Frank on the design of the R44 helicopter and leading the design of the R66, as well as being involved in the development of the many options and improvements for all Robinson helicopter models. Riedl will continue to support Robinson in an advisory capacity.

“It has been a privilege working with our talented team of engineers, and all Robinson employees whose dedicated work has contributed to the success of our company. I am proud to be a part of the Robinson legacy,” said Riedl.

Sean Doyle, Robinson’s engineering manager, will now lead Robinson engineering as vice president. Doyle, an engineering and flight test professional with extensive experience in rotorcraft and system development, test, and certification, previously served as a Flight Test Manager at Joby Aviation. Prior to Joby, he spent 15 years at Garmin, focusing on bringing new capabilities to the helicopter market, including advanced flight control systems, hazard avoidance, navigation, and displays.

“Robinson Helicopter Company is widely known for its pioneering spirit and the value it provides in the training, personal use, and light utility helicopter segments,” said Doyle. “We plan to develop products that will not only shape the industry for years to come but enhance Robinson’s enduring legacy.”

Kurt Robinson, President of Robinson Helicopter Company, expressed his confidence in the new appointment, stating, “Elevating Sean Doyle to lead engineering, solidifies our commitment to securing a prosperous future for Robinson. His proven knowledge, experience, and skill sets, are well-suited to maximize our long-term objectives and uphold Robinson’s heritage and tradition of pioneering innovation in vertical aviation.”

Riedl also stated his support for Doyle, “Having worked extensively with Sean while he was at Garmin, I am confident in his leadership and happy to have him in this role.”

This strategic appointment reflects Robinson’s commitment to maintaining its industry leadership through innovative partnerships and the development of highly competitive rotorcraft products.
