Aviation Specialties Unlimited, Inc. (ASU), a trusted provider modifying aircraft for civil and military night vision operations for more than 28 years around the world, announced from European Rotors that Austrian based Heli Austria signed an agreement for the delivery of 10 new ASU E3 NVGs. Heli Austria will be the first operators in Austria with the new E3 Goggles.
“We have worked with Heli Austria since 2015,” said ASU Vice President of Sales Dan Meyer. “Heli Austria flies missions all over the world, but the new E3 Goggles will be specifically for their air ambulance HEMS operations in Austria.”
Heli Austria has eight bases in Austria and flies more than 5000 rescue missions a year. They have been flying missions since 1983 and they operate in 10 countries around the world. ASU has modified 15 aircraft for Heli Austria including Super Pumas, AS350, and MD900.
“Countless lives have been saved because of the incredible work of Heli Austria” said Frankfurt, Germany-based ASU Chief Pilot, Director of Safety, and European Sales Representative Alexander Emmel. “Whether it is rescuing skiers, helping a crash victim or assisting with search and rescue missions in extreme mountainous area, their team of highly trained pilots and crew members are some of the most highly trained and skilled in the region.”
Roy Knaus is the CEO of Heli Austria. “We wanted to purchase the E3 goggles because it is the next evolution in Goggle technology,” said Knaus. “These Goggles will be a big improvement for our crews. They are 30% lighter than AN/AVS-9 NVGs, which means less fatigue for our pilots. ASU has provided our company with great service and support for years and we are thrilled with this new purchase.”
ASU will deliver the new E3 in early 2024 and will maintain them for Heli Austria for two years.
