Tasmanian helicopter company Rotor-Lift will partner with Toll Group as part of its tender to continue supplying emergency helicopter services to the Tasmanian Government.

Rotor-Lift Chief Executive Officer Susan Stanley said the business was proud to be working with Toll Aviation, an experienced emergency helicopter service operator, to complement and strengthen Rotor-Lift’s local expertise and commitment to the Tasmanian public.

“This is a strong partnership, with significant combined experience, that will deliver a high-capability and skilled service to Tasmanians. Innovation and a genuine commitment for excellence will underpin our approach to ensure that when Tasmanians need us, we’ll be there,” she said.

Over the past 18 years Toll has provided emergency helicopter services to the Australian Defence Force and has a strong history of providing airborne law enforcement support to the Australian Federal Police. Since 2017, Toll has operated the Toll Ambulance Rescue Helicopter Service on behalf of the NSW and ACT Governments, with over 32,000 AW139 flight hours and 19,000 missions flown.

Rotor-Lift has completed more than 14,000 missions for both Tasmania Police and Ambulance Tasmania, supporting both agencies with helicopters, pilots and crews from its base at the Hobart Airport.

“Combining that calibre of experience will allow us to make a compelling and competitive bid to continue serving Tasmanians in need of emergency medical assistance,” Ms Stanley said.

Toll Aviation General Manager Colin Gunn said “our relationship with Rotor-Lift is longstanding, with many of our current Emergency Medical Service, Aerial Law Enforcement and military support aircrew having trained with the Rotor-Lift team over the last two decades. This broader partnership keeps the local focus, while strengthened by the capability and experience of Toll Aviation”.

The collaboration will include Toll’s Aviation Centre of Excellence (ACE) and Rotor-Lift’s longstanding and trusted flight training school to cement Hobart’s legacy as the best ab initio, CPL, IFR and NVIS helicopter training location in Oceania.

“The partnership is a natural fit between two very aligned organisations, both with safety and training excellence at the heart. Our joint credentials in provisioning the highest quality and operationally focused training for emergency service workers, including doctors, paramedics, police, fire fighters and other emergency services personnel, are second to none.”
