Air Ambulances UK regrets to announce that Simmy Akhtar, our Chief Executive Officer since March 2021, will leave the charity in December to take on the role of Chief Executive Officer at the Royal Life Saving Society UK. Simmy leaves behind a legacy of supportive and innovative leadership together with a wide range of achievements, having led the organisation through a period of significant growth and development.
During her time at Air Ambulances UK, Simmy has consistently demonstrated her ability to lead with vision and impact, achieving significant milestones for the organisation. Under her leadership, Air Ambulances UK advanced its five strategic goals, from increasing income generation to enhancing awareness of our cause with a variety of stakeholders, with the ultimate aim of saving more lives across the UK. Simmy’s commitment to excellence has ensured the charity’s continued growth and influence on a national scale.
Reflecting on her time at Air Ambulances UK, Simmy said:
“Leading Air Ambulances UK has been a privilege and I have been fortunate to have worked with a talented and dedicated team who are all committed to saving lives. I am immensely proud of our achievements together and know the team will continue to deliver ever-growing value for its members. I would like to thank the Air Ambulances UK team, our partners, and supporters who have been with us on this journey. I am excited to be joining the Royal Life Saving Society UK and look forward to continuing to work in a role that makes a meaningful impact.”
