UrbanV, the Italian vertiport network operator and Korea Airports Corporation (KAC), as the operator of 14 airports nationwide, being also at the forefront of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) vertiport initiatives, signed an agreement to develop vertiport networks and create an AAM ecosystem. The cooperation, in fact, will also create potential synergies in future overseas Urban Air Mobility (UAM) vertiport development projects.

Rome, Thursday 31st October – UrbanV and KAC will engage in multiple joint activities as part of the collaboration, including ecosystem creation, exchange of technical, operational and regulatory expertise and data.

UrbanV’s know-how in regulatory matters, thanks also to the experience in collaborating to the definition of the first Italian AAM regulation, and KAC’s Air-Corridor Services competencies will contribute to a strategic cooperation for the future design, construction and operation of vertiport networks.

Leveraging its aviation expertise, KAC is developing an in-house Vertiport system and preparing Vertiport infrastructure for the nation’s first commercial AAM operations in Jeju Island and the Southern Coast Region.

Together, UrbanV and KAC intend to exchange data and best practices regarding UAM activities and access each other’s UAM ecosystems in order to provide tangible support for feasibility assessment and UAM analysis with relevant stakeholders like air operators, site owners, industrial partners and regulatory bodies etc.

The collaboration between UrbanV and KAC represents a key step towards the entry into service of Advanced Air Mobility – mutual learning and benchmarking are strategic elements to enable safe, efficient and sustainable operations in city skies in the near future.
