North Dakota autonomy programs and initiatives under threat

The North Dakota Unmanned Autonomous Systems Council has issued the following letter to its members at 15:00 Central Daylight Time on Monday 21st April.  The emboldening is theirs.

We need your help today.

SB2018 is the key Commerce budget bill that includes funding for all of North Dakota’s autonomy programs and initiatives—including the Northern Plains UAS Test Site, Grand Sky, Vantis, Grand Farm, and other efforts that have made North Dakota a national leader in UAS.

The House of Representatives is scheduled to vote tomorrow, and there is an effort underway to break the bill apart, which could result in defunding the very programs that support our state’s leadership, growth, and sustainment in the UAS sector.

This is a pivotal moment for the UAS community in North Dakota. The North Dakota UAS Council must speak with one voice: urge representatives to pass the bill in full and protect the autonomy investments that support our shared mission.

Please contact your House contacts today—across the state, especially key Appropriations Committee members and fellow UAS Council members in the House. Even a short note expressing your support for the full bill can make a meaningful difference.

Thank you for your leadership and timely action.

It then goes on to list 50 Representatives and their email addresses to assist UAS Council members in making contacts
