Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance have announced a funding appeal to add a second helicopter.  Based in the East Midlands of the UK, Lincs & Notts currently fly an AW169 and contract with HeliService International for its operation.

A new Leonardo AW109SP GrandNew is scheduled for delivery in summer 2027 and fully operational by the autumn of that year.

The £7 million cost of the helicopter and medical fit-out is already half achieved with donations as follows

  • £1 million – Michael Cornish Charitable Trust [Michael Cornish is the son of the founder of packaging company Linpac, who inter alia make burger boxes for Macdonalds]
  • £1 million – BNA Charitable Incorporated Organisation
  • Unstated amounts – The Jones 1986 Charitable Trust and Notts based company Experian have also made generous contributions to the project.
  • The Charity’s own fundraising efforts

These bring the total raised so far to just over £4 million, and the charity has now launched its “Mission Possible 2” campaign to reach their target total of £7 million.

The charity’s accounts for the year to 31st March 2024 show £3.88 million in cash and £7.95 million in Listed Investments at the balance sheet date.
