The Coast Guard Air Station in Traverse City will soon receive three new MH-60T Jayhawk helicopters for their air rescues and emergency services on Lake Superior. They currently have four MH-65 Dolphin helicopters that have been in service since 1990, which will be sent to other air stations in the country.
The Jayhawk has anti-icing technology, larger fuel tanks, a range of 700 nautical miles and has enough space for 15 people as well has space for a stretcher board, reports Twin Cities. They hope to see the first arrive in April.
