Maclean District Hospital has had to close down their attached helipad after the Northern NSW Local Health District conducted a safety audit. New safety and engineering rules have been set in place to ensure the overall safety of helicopter landing sites. Maclean District Hospital’s helipad did not meet these guidelines. A temporary landing site for air ambulances has been set up in McIntyre’s Airfield. Daily Examiner reports that the hospital is looking to aviation experts for consultation on a new permanent helipad.
