The Ghana Police Service have this week held their 66th Independence Day Anniversary Parade. As part of this event, they made a fly-past with their three helicopters – two Gazelles and an Airbus H125.
While the purchase of these helicopters was announced by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in late 2021, confirmation of their delivery and thus in-country existence has been notable by its absence until now.
The Gazelle helicopters were apparently supplied from MW Helicopters / Excel in the UK according to this video in which at least one of them features. They are operated from a recently built facility at the National Police Academy And Training School in Accra. Six police pilots have been trained in South Africa.
The parade was held at the Multi-Purpose Youth Resource Centre in Adaklu District, a few miles south of Ho, the capital of Volta Region.
