As a number of airlines including British Airways, Flybe and Loganair cancel flights, North Sea helicopter operators appear to be following suit. Bond Offshore Helicopters has already cancelled return flights for BP from Aberdeen to both “Well Enhancer” and “Island Constructor”, as well as another return flight for ConocoPhilips from Aberdeen to jackup rig “Ensco 102”.
The Icelandic volcano Grimsvotn is to blame – a different one to the one that caused three weeks of disruption at a similar time last year.
