AgustaWestland North America and the Christopher Columbus Fellowship Foundation honored Dr. Michael Sossong and Decision Sciences International Corp. with a $25,000 homeland security award at a ceremony in the U.S. Capitol building.
Dr. Sossong’s new threat detection technology locates shielded special nuclear materials at commercial ports, without interrupting the normal flow of commerce. In seconds, this advanced Muon tomography technology can detect high-density gamma rays. This keeps nuclear materials and possible weapons out and makes our ports safer. As a global advanced vertical lift manufacturer, AgustaWestland understands the power of new technologies in defense.
Over the past six years, AgustaWestland has contributed $150,000 in sponsoring the work of the Christopher Columbus Fellowship Foundation and the future of homeland security technologies. Dr. Sossong’s achievements will make a critical difference in protecting the United States and its citizens.
