The “GAP SAR” contract requires Bristow Helicopters to supply four Sikorsky S92s for UK Search and Rescue. The first arrival (which we reported here) is now stationed at Inverness on a training programme. Meanwhile the second example G-MCGB was air freighted into Prestwick last week and ferried through to Aberdeen on Saturday. This is serial number 920167, which was test flown by Sikorsky as N167G.
The winner of the full SAR contract, running 10 years from around 2016 (exact date to be confirmed) is expected to be announced in March. The tender is now down to two bidders, Bond and Bristow, after CHC were taken out of the process by UK Government
