Bruce Champ, flight nurse for the East Liverpool Air Evac Lifeteam base, has been honored with the company’s 2013 Region 2 Flight Nurse of the Year award.

Champ’s region consists of Air Evac Lifeteam bases in Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia and parts of Tennessee.

The Flight Nurse of the Year is presented to the nurse who works as a team player, demonstrates a desire to increase knowledge and skills, and actively pursues opportunities to promote Air Evac in the community.

“Bruce is an outstanding individual who is always professional and dedicated to all aspects of Air Evac operations,” said Regional Director of Base Operations Janie Ward. “Our patients and partners in EMS look at Bruce as one of the most competent caregivers possible. I can honestly say that if something bad were to ever happen to myself or a loved one, I would be able to find solace in the fact that Bruce Champ was there.

“In the eyes of his peers, Bruce is looked upon as a leader, mentor, and professional. There is no doubt that Bruce Champ makes a difference and is a valued asset at Air Evac Lifeteam. We need more like him.”
