The New Zealand Government is currently underway with planning a large change for the country’s rescue helicopter services. Auckland’s Rescue Helicopter Trust’s chief executive, Greg Barrows, has commented that suggestions of rationalization and amalgamation have been brought up. As well as planning, they are taking into account their many fundraising programmes. The government pays for operation costs to the rescue helicopter services, while the helicopters and equipment come from fundraising. The Ministry of Health and ACC have contributed with an annual $591,000 towards a two-year trial of an Air Desk for rescue helicopters, reports Stuff.
