The president of Airbus Canada, Romain Trapp, has commented how their H145M would be a suitable replacement for the current CH-146 Griffon and in doing so they could save Canadian taxpayers over $1 billion over 10 years. Leonardo seems to also be contesting to replace the Griffon.
Canada’s Liberal government has however released a new defence policy that does not include a Griffon replacement. They have started a “CH-146 Griffon Limited Life Extension” project. As reported by Ottawa Citizen, there are few details regarding the project and whether it will extend the life of the Griffon until a new helicopter could be bought.
