The 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment welcomed their six new AH-64D Apache helicopters this past Tuesday. These new helicopters are replacing their fleet of OH-58 Kiowa Warrior helicopters at Fort Bragg’s Simmons Army Airfield, reports Military.com. Plans are being made to use the Ah-64D in conjunction with the RQ-7 Shadow unmanned aerial system. The mid-sized drone will be launched from a pneumatic catapult and used to scout ahead.
