Leonardo hopes that 2018 will be the year that they will be able to begin work on a rotary-wing unmanned air system (RWUAS). Should they begin next year, they hope to have the RWUAS available in the mid-2020s. A programme to develop the concepts of the RWUAS is already underway, reports Flight Global. Leonardo’s Yeovil facility has been working with the UK Ministry of Defence on these concepts and is already on the second phase. This phase includes the requirements for a future system.
