The Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS) announced today the appointment of Donna Itzoe, MA, to its Board of Directors in a President/CEO appointed position designed to bring targeted expertise to the Board in support of organizational priorities.
This appointed seat was established to provide the AAMS President & CEO with the flexibility to appoint a board member whose skills and experience align with the specific needs, focus areas, or initiatives facing the association at a given time. Unlike elected positions, the appointed role allows for adjustments as strategic direction, vision, or project demands evolve.
AAMS leadership identified strategic communications and public relations expertise as a critical need for this position, particularly to support effective engagement and messaging across both member and non member organizations. Ms. Itzoe’s background and experience position her to help strengthen AAMS’ communications reach, clarity, and impact across the full spectrum of stakeholders.
“Clear, consistent, and trusted communication is essential to advancing our mission and supporting the air medical and critical care transport community,” said Jana Williams, AAMS President & CEO. “Donna brings deep communications leadership, a strong understanding of our industry, and academic prowess, making her an ideal fit for this strategic role.”
Ms. Itzoe serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Communications and Events Officer at the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC), where she leads enterprise level communications strategy, brand management, and major events. She brings extensive experience in public affairs, stakeholder engagement, crisis communications, and executive messaging, along with a longstanding connection to AAMS’ leadership development efforts through the AAMS Leadership Incident Fortification Training (LIFT) program. In her appointed role, Ms. Itzoe will focus on strengthening strategic communications, supporting organizational initiatives, and helping ensure AAMS messaging effectively reaches and resonates with diverse audiences across the industry.
“I am honored to join the AAMS Board and to support an industry that serves patients and families at some of the most critical moments of their lives,” said newly appointed AAMS Board Member, Donna Itzoe. “I have deep respect for the dedicated professionals who do this work every day, and I’m committed to helping amplify their voices, strengthen our shared mission, and advance the impact of air medical and critical care transport.”
